Tjerk Ridder travels through Europe and creates theatre performances, songs and books about his journeys.
He shares his adventures by telling stories and singing songs. They are all about following your own unique path, creating connections and how you always encounter yourself everywhere.
The music theater performances can be seen in theaters and at festivals, and Tjerk is frequently asked to play for organizations, companies and educational institutions to add lustre to congresses and change processes. Tjerk Ridder has performed at theater festivals such as De Parade, Lowlands, Oerol, Crossing Border, Noorderzon and the World Expo. His performances are also available in German and English. Abroad, he performed in Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Turkey, China and Japan.
De reizen & voorstellingen
It seems like a great adventurous idea: walking from Paris in France to Groningen in the Netherlands in three months along the path of Saint Martin. A brand new route through Europe named after the legendary Saint Martin. When Tjerk starts the 1,234 kilometer long journey, only one pilgrim has preceded him.
Tjerk Ridder hitchhiked across Europe, from Utrecht to Istanbul, with a caravan – but without a car. Under the title 'Towbar Needed! – You need others to keep you going', he was literally searching for towbars and thus for goodwill, hospitality and trust.
In search of the personal meaning of freedom, Tjerk Ridder traveled with his Belgian draft horse Elvi through different landscapes and past specific places of freedom and unfreedom in Western Europe.
